An in-depth study of the Bible by use of historical- analytical approach to develop an understanding of the context and significance of the respective scripture.
Many sources are used: ancient manuscripts (Dead Sea Scrolls, et. al.), scholarly and theological books and papers, and Bible dictionaries and commentaries as examples. Occasionally, we will select a book or DVD to serve as a basis for our discussions. We decide collectively and democratically what Biblical book or topic we wish to study.
The format of the class is discussion oriented with all members encouraged to share their study and perspective. Even though there may be significant differences of understanding expressed we emphasize the need for Christian tolerance, respect, and charity.
